Love this paper!!!

When I originally saw this paper and all of the blues, I thought I would need to find some boy pictures. Not so!

This paper really lends itself to much more than boy layouts only especially with the browns and yellows in the collection.

I also love the phrases and quotes included with the collection. All together, this paper makes my scrapbooking so much easier!

Buttons, Brads & Rhinestones Make a Great Page

As a scrapper who loves buttons and brads, the Follow Your Heart line is absolutely amazing.  The button and brad sets have a wide variety and they are so fun to use to make your page interesting.  You might think I got a little carried away as I used 11 buttons, 2 rhinestones and a brad and yet I don’t think they look overdone.     To round out the page I used some of the chipboard shapes – a hexagon strip and kites.

I started with backgrounds that had Wander on top and Be Adored on bottom.  (I cut these carefully so the designs were where I wanted them.)

A piece of the Unique paper forms a photo mat.  This allowed me to write headings to go with some pictures directly on the paper.

In the upper corner of the left background, I copied the design on the paper.  After applying little strips of a variety of the paper, I made a chain of buttons, rhinestones and a brad.  I tied a knot of twine from the Follow Your Heart Line in the buttons.  I tore the saying about “wandering” from another piece of Wander paper and affixed it with pop dots to make the saying more prominent.  I added some buttons in other locations – I even bought an extra set so that I could have three butterflies.  I also made a butterfly using Tim Holtz Sizzix Easter Elements die.  Before cutting out the chipbard, I affixed the gold hexagon side of Be Your Best paper  from the  6”  x 6” Designer Paper Pad.   (By the way, I  have not bought these before, but they are fabulous.  You get papers that have the same design as 12” x 12”, but the designs are much smaller and oh so cute.)  To enhance the butterfly, I cut a body out of three hexagons from the same chipboard.  I added twine to the its antennas.

I couldn’t resist using another Tim Holtz Sizzix Styled Label to make a place for my title.  I used Unique paper (making sure I got part of the design on the side).  I stamped it with a variety of Tim Holtz stamps.   For my title, I  used a Scrabble alphabet stamp set and Black Soot Distress Ink.

It is so easy to make pages with lots of elements when you have this line of paper and accents.

All Who Wander ....

I loved the sentiment on this paper, and it immediately reminded me of a hedge maze we visited last summer on our vacation to England. The kids were thrilled and ran through the maze like four times.

I chose to use this fun hexagon paper on the right-hand side of my layout - the shapes echo and complement the shapes of the hedges in my photos. For the title, I had some leftover chipboard alphas from Little Yellow Bicycle from February's kit. Add a bit of October Afternoon (from an ephemera pack I picked up at the store), some chipboard, buttons and a receipt and I'm done!

All about Tags
My Mind’s Eye, Follow Your Heart papers are both beautiful and versatile. The color combinations of light blue, aqua’s, yellows, grey, brick red, and tan are just great for this tag book. I love how easy it was to just incorporate the words and pictures from the paper into the tag pages of the book. I used the Tim Holz “Tag and Bookplates” die to cut the pages out of the Follow Your Hear papers. It was so easy and fun. If you want thicker pages just adhere the papers together before cutting the tag out. To make the spine of the book use the Scor-pal to score the paper with (7 score lines), fold the score back and forth creating a mountain, valley accordion of sorts. Adhere each tag to the right side of the mountain peak and adhere the entire signature to front and back tag for covers. Add some of the fun coordinating embellishments from My Mind’s Eye and then cut a small piece off the Follow Your Heart paper for the spine to cover the accordion and your books complete. When you get a chance stop into the store to get a good look at the tag book before starting if you haven’t ever made this type of book before, but remember it is fairly easy and makes a fun simple book.

Lil' Bunny

I captured this picture last Easter of my sweet grandson Jacob and could not resist using it with the My Mind’s Eye Follow Your Heart collection of papers! I brought in a solid piece of Bobunny dot cardstock to help bring out the yellows and browns in this line. I love how changing the foundation color can have such a huge impact! I decided to highlight the hexagon pattern in this line by cutting one of the patterned papers into that shape and using the smaller hexagon shapes of the bird and butterfly to tie it in. I cut out one of the hexagon shape frames and used it to border a smaller close-up picture. I used a lot of embellishments on this page and think they really helped pull it together nicely! I used the coordinating My Mind’s Eye twine and chipboard punch outs along with some white flowers and bling! Glimmer Mist really can turn the white flowers into the perfect color for any layout!

A Simple Card

I had some technical difficulty getting this card to turn clockwise but the gist of the card is here.

When you have words on any patterned papers, you have a great opportunity to use that in the layout or on a card as shown here.

I love how this card comes together and I have the option of adding more - maybe "I miss you" or some other embellishment. Or I can leave it as is and it is complete.

Glittery Easter Card

I’ve been wanting to play with the new microfine glitter and an Easter card gave me the chance.

Glue piece of white velvet paper to chipboard.  Cut bunny out using Sizxiz Tim Holtz Easter Elements Dies cut.

Easter is spelled with letters adorned with microfine glitter in Ocean Spray, Yellow and Pink. To make letters, fasten double-stick tape (available at ScrapbooksPlus) to a piece of white cardstock.  Cut letters needed to spell  “easter.”  I used Sizzix dies but any cutting system will work.  Remove the protective covering from the letter and sprinkle with glitter.  Use finger to burnish (press firmly) the glitter firmly into the tape. With a strong brush, brush away excess glitter.  Doing one color at a time assures that your letters don’t end up with bits of other colors on them.  Make bunny’s bow in the same way.

To make the card, I cut a 6 ¼” x 9”  strip of Societe paper.  (Remember to check before cutting as the design is one-way on the side that will be the inside of the card.)  Score and fold to create a 6 ¼” x 4 ½” card.

I used two Bazzill Half the Edges in white to frame the bunny and the word.  Using these for borders and trims really speeds up your project.  Be sure and check out available colors.  You get 20 per package.    ScrapbooksPlus also has the full size ones.

Wrap Follow Your Heart twine around the card several times and tie small bow.

Stamp inside with appropriate Easter message or hand write a message.

Tea Party
I cut the words “Tea Party” out with my cricut using the Storybook Cartridge; I used light aqua cardstock for the top letters and dark aqua cardstock for the shadow letters. I didn’t mat my pictures since they looked so nice on the paper without a mat; simple, yet elegant. I made a line of square knots, remember that macramé you did back in the 70’s; bet you never thought you would use that again. Anyway, I thought it looked great as a little clothesline of sorts; I then stitched the chipboard flags from the Follow Your Heart “32” be amazing chipboard elements under the macramé. For the opposing page, I journal on the computer (tested out on computer paper) and printed it out on the “Kraft Unique” paper. I matted this on “Be Adored” paper yellow side and then on the blue side of the “Be Adore” paper. I cut out the sandwich and dessert pictures I took and added them to the journal page; of course this didn’t happen by accident. I tested the words out, printed out and moved them around till I got the right position for the pictures. Once I did, I printed the final copy of the journaling out and adhered the pictures in the appropriate place. I cut out the boxes from the “Societe’” paper and then directed to paper with and ink pad. I then adhered them to the middle right side of my page. I then matted the picture of my niece and I on several of the “Be Amazing” papers and then on the page. I added the “how Sweet it is to be LOVED by you” towards the bottom of the page. I did another little string of macramé this time using the yellow, aqua, and jute twine. I made this much smaller than the one on the opposing page and I attached this one to the page with a brad. Finally, I added five buttons from the buttons accessories to the bottom left of the matted journal block.

Hexagons- I can't get enough of them!

I can't get enough of the hexagons with the new My Mind's Eye paper kit this month!  I used more on this card that I created.  I have been trimming hexagons all month for these projects-- which has been a breeze since it is all just straight cuts.  I love the way they look when layered.  This uses 5 hexagons and the hydrangea at the bottom of the paper and prints in light blue are all part of this amazing paper.  Enjoy!

My Mind’s Eye, Follow Your Heart papers are both beautiful and versatile. The color combinations of light blue, aqua’s, yellows, grey, brick red, and tan papers have unlimited possibilities. They were perfect for this card, a great example of incorporating decorative papers with words into your projects. The paper just spoke to me when I saw it, just like this picture of Joy; if this isn’t the percent example of telling
oneself to “listen to your soul” I don’t know
what is. I used sections of the paper for embellishing
the inside of the card, the “Unique”: piece and the
“I absolutely adore you”. Pick some up at the store
and see where your imagination takes you!

Scrapping Yourself

Looking through my albums and layouts I have tons & tons of my children, but a small handful about myself. I'll bet I'm not unusual, either!

I'm trying to do a better job of scrapping all aspects of my life - including wedding photos, baby pics of the kids I'd avoided (we had a sucky point-and-shoot camera), and my childhood pics. For this one, I scanned the original photo and printed out a copy to use on my layout.

My parents used to set up these annual shots, and I still laugh at my brothers' plaid pants.

Tiny Card Set

I love making practical gifts with paper.  I made this cute little basket from my left over paper from MME's Follow Your Heart paper line.  The paper with the hexagonal designs are a must have with this collection.  There is so much you can do with them... they just screamed at me to be cut out and used!

I never seem to have gift cards around when I have a small gift I want to give with a small note.  I thought this was fun paper to make cute little cards that would match most wrapping paper and gift situations without being birthday specific.  Here are the cards below.  Enjoy!

Egg Hunt

Can you believe it is almost that time of year again? Easter is right around the corner and these papers from My Mind's Eye are perfect for scrapping your memories.

The diagonal gingham and hounds-tooth pattern aren't your typical Easter prints. And the colors are more rich than the usual pastel palette. That's why I love this line so much! My kids are getting older and I just don't like pink and purple pastel for scrapping Easter pics of my son.

This little bunny embellishment was super easy to make. The bunny is die cut from chipboard using the Tim Holts die Bunnies, Butterflies & Eggs. I inked it with embossing ink then covered it with Tim Holtz Distress embossing powder~ brushed corduroy. Then I used a small paint brush to remove the embossing powder from the center of the ear and on the tail. Then I added worn lipstick embossing powder before using the heat tool to set the embossing powder over the whole bunny. In minutes I had this cute little embellishment. I drew a basket on a scrap of white cardstock to make the pattern for the basket. Then I traced it on to the patterned paper and cut it out. I added a few buttons to the basket as colored eggs and I was done.

Framing Altered Items

Gotta love it when you have scrapbooking paper that works so well with your altered items. This paper from My Minds Eye was great and makes it very easy to apply your photos with ease.

This paper lines comes with great embellishments that makes it so easy to get scrapbooking done. If you have a ton of photos as I do, having papers that come with great embellishments make it so much easier to "get it done"!

For this altered item, I picked up an empty wood frame that happened to be 12x12. It fit the papers perfectly and I added embellishments to complete the ensemble!

Tea Time

I used a sheet of My Mind’s Eye “Craft Unique”
as the base of this layout. I matted the photos
for a little pop effect. I placed the three pictures
touching each other towards the center of the page. I hate my hand writing so I tend to journal
everything on the computer and then print it out; first, however, I cut one of the My Mind’s Eye papers down to an 8 ½” by 11” sheet for the printer so my journaling would print out on coordinating paper. I tested the text on normal computer paper and when I was happy with it I used the cut sheet of paper. I then layered this on the stripe paper and then over a dark aqua blue cardstock. I added embellishments from the Follow Your Heart “32” be amazing chipboard
elements. I love those printed chipboard pieces! I sewed two of the butterflies onto the page with the coordinating My Minds Eye Twine. I added a few of the bling. Really simple but yet very elegant, my great niece is going to love this page was it makes its way into her album.

A FUN Easter Egg to Display!

I’ve had this plain paper mache egg sitting in my craft room for quite some time and finally had the perfect paper to create an altered item with! The first thing I did was cut out a hole in the front so I could make a Easter scene inside the egg. I then used Ranger’s Glue and Seal, which can be found at Scrapbooks-Plus, to adhere strips of varied widths (approx. 1”) around the egg. I did overlap each strip. Once I had my strips in place and was happy with the way they looked I put a generous coat of Ranger’s Glue and Seal over the top to seal the papers from wear and tear! For the inside of the egg I painted it with acrylic paint and then sprinkled clear glitter on top of that while it was still wet. Put a piece of chipboard down for your foundation and add some cute Easter figurines to create the perfect Easter scene! I finished off my egg with some ribbon and a bow on top held in place by a decorative pin!

Follow Your Heart for Fun!

This month's Design Team paper and embellishments are from My Minds Eye's Follow Your Heart collection and they are fun!  I love matching embellishments and there are a lot of fun ones with this kit!  This just makes your layouts come together so fast.  I always try to pick up an embellishment or two when I buy a new line of papers.

I liked the kite paper and embellishments right away and knew I'd be using it for a single page layout.  I layered everything out with my photo and then found myself wanting to use the twine that matches this kit and embellish my embellishments!

I decided to put ties on my kites to take the embellishments up a notch.  I used my paper piercer to punch holes in my kites.

A trick I use with twine or other thin materials that I want to run through small holes on buttons or other is to keep a tealight on my table.  I let the flame get hot for a few minutes and then I twist the end of my twine and then dip it into the pooled wax.  When slightly cool, I twist it to a point to make it easily go through my smaller holes.

Here is a close up of my kites.  I frayed my ends to make it look more like the ties on a kite.

I layered my embellishments with the great paper design in 3 corners of the page.  I loved the bottom right grouping printed on the paper and cut out my photo corner to make it look like the photo is behind the printed paper embellishment.  Have fun with this paper... it is really amazing!

Thank You card

I really love how well this card came together – the My Mind’s Eye Follow Your Heart collection offers so much flexibility! For this Thank You card I used a variety of papers in the line and distressed them around the edges using Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I also used a Martha Stewart punch to add additional dimension to this card.

I picked out the perfect stamp already in my personal stash and colored it in with Copic markers to coordinate with the gorgeous colors in this month’s Design Team kit. I love using my Copic markers to create a smooth and blended look! Scrapbooks-Plus has a great selection of Copic markers to help you start or build up your own collection! To give this card a more rustic look, I made the water can look worn and rusted and added some twine!

I used Flower Soft on top of the stamped flowers and put a Dew Drop in the center. To complete this easy yet beautiful card I finished off with a Thank You title on a punch out from the kit and some of my favorite new product carried by Scrapbooks-Plus GooseBumps Clear Texture Spray.
