My lil egg arTisT....

I loved this months papers...loved them. Even though when I first looked at this line, I thought wow this is pretty girlie, but even for me it actually worked...





Plus the best part of this kit, was it was just in time for Easter pictures!





I made the scallop myself hence the reason it is a little bit not so straight. But for me that is alright it gives it personality to me.





I hand wrote the word lil', egg is from the Bo Bunny sticker sheet, and artist is from some rub-ons that I had laying around. I then hand wrote the date.





I then made a little folder and put a tab on it. Inside the tab is a magnate, to hold it shut. I hid the other magnate between the black and the scallop paper.




When the folder is opened there are two pictures one of the pictures is covered with journaling printed on the vellum from the kit. you can still see the picture, but just mutted down...love this look! The second photo is a picture of all the eggs that we colored...and there was a lot.

Cards for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is just around the corner. Need some card ideas? Here's a couple I made from this month's Bo Bunny kit. A homemade card would make a wonderful gift for any mom!


To make this card, start with a chipboard frame. This is an adhesive frame by Bo Bunny. Cut a piece of cardstock to fit your frame. I used Coordinations and sanded the edges to let the purple show through. Next cut your Bo Bunny paper to fit on the cardstock. Lightly trace around the inside of your frame on a piece of Hambly Screen Prints transparency and carefully cut out. Adhere the frame to the transparency then to the patterned paper. Finally, add a sentiment to your card.

For this card I started with some orange cardstock. I cut strips of paper from the Love Shack collection. I used a border punch on the green/pink paper before adhering. I added my sentiment onto a journaling square then cut out a flower from the same green/pink paper.

Making Die-Cuts Pop

The Bo Bunny Line in my kit this month included a fabulous double-sided page of tags, journaling boxes, and other coordinating items. They were all lovely and it was difficult to decide which ones I wanted to cut out... since the ones on the opposite side were just as nice. Many lines come with coordinating die-cuts, but sometimes they just look too, well... flat sitting there are your page. To keep this from happening to your pages, I put together a little list of easy ways to make your die-cuts really stand out.

First, don't just use the die-cut all by it's lonesome! Jazz it up! Add embellishments on top to make it unique... you could add flowers, bling, glossy accents, stickles, etc.

Second, don't place them flat on the page. Use some pop dots or other dimension adhesive to add interest.

Third, ink and distress the edges. I always love to ink the edges of my paper and die-cuts are no exception. If your die-cut has edges that are difficult to ink... like inside corners or other tight spaces... place your die-cut flat on a piece of scrap paper and use a pen and draw a line that just touches the edge of your die cut (or, conversely, is *mostly* on the scrap paper).

I used all of the techniques here and I also added stitching to my layout to repeat the printed stitching that is on the die-cut journaling block. Together, it helps the die-cut blend with everything else and look fab (if I do say so myself!). :)

Glimmer Mist

I was so excited this month when Misty picked out the new paper lines from BoBunny for our kits this month! I fell in love with them the minute I saw them and had such a difficult time picking between the awesome kits that Misty put together. We had 3 kits to choose from this month and I picked out the Abbey Road line. I loved the blue, green and browns of the kit. There was a ton of patterned paper with the kit, plus great embellishments! I really loved the Flora Doodles flowers that we got. I had used all the blue and green flowers that had come with the kit on my LOs so when it came time to make my card I had only white flowers left. After seeing Deborah use the Glimmer Mists on Sat in her make and take, it gave me an idea to try it on the white flowers. I had a Robin's Egg Blue Glimmer Mist so I sprayed a white flower until I got the color I wanted and voila! A blue flower. So easy and so cool!
So try this out next time you don't have a flower to match!

New Cuttlebug Embossing Folders...and More!

For the Coredinations Make & Take I used cuttlebug embossing folders to create raised images - I was thrilled - doing the happy dance - soooo excited - to see that Debbie had gotten a brand new selection to choose from! I came home with (4) new ones that I had only seen available online. I did not take them all home because Debbie promised me she would order more, and I wanted to leave some for everyone else to play with...but supplies are limited and they were flying off the shelves (okay, off the hooks, but you get the idea)!

Nicole chose to use a piece of Coredinations from the Chocolate Box line - brown on the front, pink on the reverse with a pink core. After embossing, she used the Lasting Impressions Paper Scratchers to bring out the pink of her raised image.

Angela and Taryn get a lesson in Cuttlebug operation from mini-me (my daughter MC)!

Lisa's Make & Take was up next and she demo'd Ranger Inks, including the new Alcohol Inks Fillable Ink Pen from Tim Holtz. Very cool!

Deborah Mahnken's Make & Take began at 1:30pm. She had designed a beautiful tag that started with Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels and a butterfly mask.

There was also a chance to play with some textured chipboard and the Glimmer Mist - all I can say is don't be afraid to "get rough" with that stuff - a little sandpaper after the GlimmerMist dried highlighted all the beautiful details.

Even Debbie took time out to play with this demo!

Leah had a couple of things going on - a mini-book and a really cute card with a cupcake theme - rumor has it she is your "go-to" gal when it comes to cupcake stamps.

Oh! I almost forgot!

Amy is awaiting the arrival of her new Cricut, but she couldn't wait to get started on invitations for a baby shower so...she used the Stretch Your Imagination Cartridge and the Cricut Expression from the store and look at what she came up with!

This is actually version 1 - version 2 is even better!

National Scrapbooking Day is Here!

We are celebrating with all day FREE make and takes instruction provided by our Design Team members. Starting at 10:30am, I will be sharing some techniques to use with one of my new favorite products - Coredinations cardstock. I used this stuff on my one page layout this month (along with the AWESOME Bo Bunny papers chosen by Misty) and it really adds such a unique, handcrafted look. I'll post some pictures from the activities later today. I hope to see you there!

Design Team Kits for the month of May.

As the designer of the month I get to pick all the paper that I wanted to use...Since I what I really wanted was not available I picked the three newest lines from BO BUNNY.

The first line is Alissa which is mostly pinks and actually the kit that I picked...SHOCK! I know but you will see this month just how well this paper worked for little boy layouts...loved it. You will also see I have a mini book "the reasons I love you" as a class that will be May 5th come join us...Sign up early as space is limited. Also Erin got this kit...and I can't wait to see her girlie girl stuff...

This second kit is the love shack line also from bo bunny, this is a really fun and funky kit and I can't wait to see what Leah and Kim do with it.

This one is Abbey Road and I know that Sharon got one of these kits so of course I can't wait to see what she did...
