The Apple Cider papers were great for the fall leaves and these pictures. A sheet of green Bazzill was used to place a rectangle of Changing Leaves that is 5 & 3/4" x 3 & 3/4" in the lower left and Fall in Love in the top right for the title. The leaves and trees lend a vertical direction so the placement was to complement the direction of the trees.
A text box was made on the computer using a brown color for the background and changing text to clear. That is mounted inside a fold with Tin Holtz's die "On the Edge" for the flap. Green lettering was welded on the Cricut and Gypsy from one of the cardstock patterns. A small amount of glitter dust was added to the title.
Please see The Design Team Wall for the image. Thanks.

The Big Apple
When I saw the papers for this month's kit the apple patterns really stood out. And as luck would have it, we took a family trip to New York City over the Memorial Day weekend.
So, I used my Slice to cut a large apple out of the paper, which I then sprayed with glimmer mist then Rock Candy crackle paint. Along with strips of the Imaginisce paper I added a few things from August's Tim Holtz Kit and Karen's uber-fun Capture the Moment class (umm ... featuring tons of Tim H!). And some of those really cute Cosmo Cricket tiny type alphas that ScrapbooksPlus just got in.

And if you're like me, you take tons of photos on trips and keep tickets, programs, and other mementos. I have lots of photos I wanted to use, but there's only so much room on a page. So, to complement my layout I took an American Crafts divided page protector and added photos, paper, and more embellishments - both front and back.
Here's the front side. Don't feel that everything has to stay in the pockets! I have journaling tags, chipboard stickers and half my title adhered on the outside of the pockets.

And here's the back. I included a ticket from a show and the Empire State Bldg. program on this side (although I had to fold both of them).

The chipboard sun was inked with Distress Ink and then coated with a layer of UTEE. Not only does it make it shiny but it will help the embellishment last. I added a bit of paper, part of our receipt and more of the Tim Holtz tape.

Just say no to fall.
I started by distressing my title with a stencil & spiced marmalade. Leaving the stencil in place stamp on top with brown chalk ink. This will put the pattern in the shape only. Cool! Taking a tag with the pumpkin paper on it, I ran it through the circle Texture Fade, scuffed it with sand paper & distressed with vintage photo. I just ran the ink pad over the top of the tag to pick up the embossed parts. I printed the coffee picture from online & mounted it on the green patterned Imaginsce with a punched border. After positioning the pieces I used a stencil & black soot distress ink to add the spider webs, then a swish with a glitter pen to give it a shimmer. Time to start layering. I adhered the polka dot paper, photo & tag.
I used the pumpkin chipboard cut out that came with the kit. First I painted it white so my colors would show up better. I used water color crayons once the paint was dry. I embossed the pumpkin & then used water to blend the color. Again I used the sanding block to pull out the embossed parts more. To add a pretty shimmer coat with a thin layer of Glimmer Mist. A 7gypsies stamp was perfect for the words, which I cut out & added to Mr. Pumpkin. A rub on from my old stash was added along the bottom, along with one of my favorites -the Holtz film strip, which I added bling to. After adding my journal boxes I added the raven. This is one of Tim's new stamps from his set Haunted Mansion. I stamped it with black soot & cut it out, using pop dots to make it look like the raven was drinking the coffee. The great thing about having a local scrapbook store is I was able to order this stamp & receive it before it has arrived anywhere. ScrapbooksPlus will order product for you! Call & ask them how.
I finished this page by distressing the edges with vintage photo. Now I am going to go to the pool, read a summer book, eat popsicles & stick my head in the sand & pretend it is still summer!

Pens & Buttons To The Rescue!
I am a big fan of buttons. I like that they are so versatile... they can be used for sleek, vintage, modern, really any kind of layout. They don't get squished in your albums, so they always look just as good years later as when you added them to your layout.

I finished this layout and it was just missing something. I laid some buttons out on it and that helped... but I knew I had finally gotten it when I added the black pen line around my kraft mat. Before, everything still felt like it was floating. Adding the line grounded it and helped connect the Jenni Bowlin journaling circles.
Another way I use buttons is to test out my idea when I'm thinking of using dimensional adhesive. I just place a button or two underneath the item I want to pop and see how it looks. This gives me an easy way to move it around before I glue it down for good with the actual dimensional adhesive.

September Already!
I can't believe it is September already. You know what that means... its time to pick some apples and get in the mood for all of the Autumn goodness that is coming our way. As much as we would like an endless Summer we have to get in gear for what is right around the corner. The Apple Crisp line from Imaginisce will do just that.

To create this layout I started with two pieces of an apple green colored card stock and two pieces of Apple Crisp paper. I used both sides of this yummy paper, distressing and ripping some of the edges. I also used my edge distresser on each of my photos. The rustic look of these distressing techniques went right along with my photos from Stribling Orchard.

I found these adorable Warm Memories Chipboard Stickers in the store and used one as my title for this layout. I liked the shape of the "So blessed" chipboard sticker and decided to repeat it as a spot for part of my journaling.
I cut several of the apples out of the Apple Cider paper and placed them around the layout using Pop Up Glue Dots to adhere them to the project. This added a bit of dimension to make these shiny little apples stand out more. You can see here that I used one on the chipboard sticker and another on the journaling spot.
If you have never tried glue dots you are really missing out. It is super strong adhesive that comes in several different shapes and sizes so you are bound to find the perfect dot for whatever you are doing!

It's that time!
It's time to switch gears as we move into fall. Fall can be so much fun... back to school and new activities; a little less humidity in the weather makes it the perfect time for family hikes in the woods and afternoons at the pumpkin patch. And just like our days change up a little in the fall, as scrapbookers we tend to move away from the summer brights and gravitate back to warm, earthy colors.

This month I picked out the Apple Cider line from Imaginisce to get us into the fall spirit. The line features lovely fall shades of brown, burgundy, orange, and cream with splashes of cadet blue and olive green. Patterns include your expected apples, pumpkins and fall words, as well as polka dots, stripes, and flourishes. My favorites are a cute "tree" print and a totally cool hand drawn wood grain. Stop by the crop room at ScrapbooksPlus to check out what the Design Team did and pick up some of the papers yourself!
