Circle flowers

I have been really into making ribbon flowers for the past few months.  Each month I try to find another type of flower to make.  This month, I made a few simple circle flowers- the pink ones on this layout that I posted earlier this month.
As promised, I'll give you a quick tutorial showing how I made these.  I took two similar colors of pink 1 1/2 inch wide ribbon- one in satin and the other sheer.
I freehand cut circle shapes in slightly different sizes.  Don't worry about making them perfect.  Just cut basic shapes.  Then I melted the edges slightly to keep them from fraying.
I used a tea light because I was doing quite a few circles.  You need to be careful not to burn your edges- just to melt them slightly.  The better quality your ribbon the less likely you are to burn the edges.  Also, different types of ribbon burn faster- such as the sheer ribbon which burns very quickly.
Once I cut my circles and sealed all my edges, I alternated sheer and satin circles to create my flowers.  I layered them until I was happy with the look and then used my Crop-a-dile to punch a hole in the center for my rhinestone brad.  These are super easy and I like the fact that the less than perfect circles that I cut freehand are perfect for this flower!  Here's the completed flower:

Letter Placement Made Easy

This month's Design Team kit has an available sheet of matching stickers.  They are really great and make your scrapbooking a snap!  The letters can be tricky if you want to line them up side by side evenly.  Here's a handy trick...

I took a strip from the rub-on backing (that is also available to match the DT papers) and chose my letters and stuck just the bottom edge of the letter stickers on it.  You can line them up as you want and by using a strip of 'non-stick' type of material you can move them around without committing until you are happy with them. Then just stick the top of the letters down on the final project and carefully slide the 'carrier sheet' out.  Super simple!

Double Pocket Card *Tutorial* by Susie

I love the beautiful things you can create with double sided paper, like the Alissa line by BoBunny.

This month I made a cute little "Thank-you" set - a card and a cupcake box!

Here is a step by step tutorial - easy peasy!

I started with a piece of "Look at Me" paper, which has a really cool dot pattern on one side and a bright green on the reverse.

I trimmed the paper to 8-1/2" x 11", and reserved the remnant for later use.

Fold the paper in half length-wise and crease.
Open.
Turn paper 90 degrees.

Fold the paper in half again, width-wise this time, and crease.
Open.
Flip it over so the dot side of the paper is facing up.

Align paper so the short side is along the bottom.

Cut along the fold line from the left edge of the paper to the intersection of lines in the middle.

Fold the bottom right corner up so that it meets the center fold line. Crease.

Fold the top left corner down so that it is about 1-1/4" from the center fold line. Crease.

Fold the top left quadrant over on top of the right quadrant.
Crease.

Fold the bottom left quadrant under the bottom right quadrant.
Crease.

Fold the bottom right corner up and match edges.
Crease.

Put red line tape along the right and left edges of the green paper.
Fold the bottom section up. Adhere.

Trim out the "Thank you" square from the BoBunny Alissa Cut Out sheet. Mat it with the green side of the remnant.
Mount with dimensional tape on bottom right of card.

Create tags: (1) 5" x 2.5" and (1) 5" x 1.75"
Embellish as desired.
Insert tags in pocket.

Bake a cupcake!

Deliver to someone you really appreciate!

This would also make a great "Happy Birthday" set if you simply change the sentiment on the card.

Thanks to Claudia Rosa at SCS for the inspiration! Happy crafting! Susie
